Here is a big one i see in smaller engineering firms though and some larger ones. Way too many volume surfaces in your drawings! Data shortcut your surface to a seperate file and create your volume surfaces there,.Lots and lots of missing shp/shx files see this somewhat destructive fix.People with too many layouts in their drawings! 10 or more layouts in your drawings means trouble.Export them and import as point file instead. People importing 100000+ cogo points and using them to create a surface.

Gradings based off features line that are unecesarrily complex. Grading objects that are targeting a surface with "10s of thousands of triangles", really common! - Reduce the complexity in your survey ffs! Or learn to use corridors.Never resolved this one, have a new laptop and its not an issue anymore. Having OSNAPS on when hovering over overlapping surface contours. When trimming 3D polylines - Ensure you have COMMANDPREVIEW turned off - older machiens as well.Turning off rollover tips - also helps on older/lower spec machines."Disabling infocenter and acwebbrowser" - have seen performance improvements on older computers defiantely. Not having a "Xref - Layers filter" most common for me (We also use the WBLOCK method, when creating xrefs that contain Civil 3D objects, it removes all the unnecessary C3D style Layers! Layer dependant styles can be really annoyign now and then.).Here is a few i have encountered over the years. There is definately quite a few things that cause Civil 3d Performance Issues. We have seen a significant differance in terms of performance from all machines. renaming the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\AcWebBrowser folder seems to work - but what's the likelyhood that acad keeps looking for it and that creating an extra drag?'Ģ016 - C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016 (rename AcWebBrowser) So how do we really get rid of the uneeded/unwanted/unaskedfor/. Nevermind that svhost already does the same, and that it's Chrome, while you may be running IE (if only to keep the overhead on your cad system low) and that AutoCAD also requires you to have that installed (2014 did anyways) Sure Autodesk probably thinks 100 megs is nothing. you think.īecause meanwhile AutoCAD launches, and keeps running, at least 4 (!!!) browsers in your memory - with a minimum requirement of 100 megs. So you, just like the previous startup screen, disable it (and they didn't even give you a "don't show me this again" switch) and increase the speed-of-use of your CAD (not having to have the extra clicks the newtab introduces). (which is a heavy version of the startup screen everyone disabled upon install). 'Alright, 2015 introduced an entire embedded Chrome browser for the newtab stuff
